Navilubetta Homestay in Chikmagalur / Sakleshpur

Navilubetta Homestay

Cottage with 4 individual Rooms

Navilubetta homestay is nestled in a Coffee estate, along the Western Ghats(one of the worlds 8 biodiversity hotspots - a world heritage site) of Karnataka, across the border of  Chikmagalur & Sakleshpur. The region is rich of scenic surprises with Hills, beautiful valleys, water streams, coffee estates etc.,

Climate here is very pleasant and can be visited during any time of the year. Monsoons pour enough rain in this region making the hill stations inviting with rich vegetation's of forests and coffee plantations. The beauty and serenity of this place calls for a perfect getaway - holiday,  away from the week long hustle of an urban life, ideal for a peaceful relaxation / adventurous activities to rejuvenate oneself.

Altogether, a perfect weekend getaway or holiday - to feel, experience and live life at the "lap of nature".

We as a team had been to Navillu betta homestay for a weekend outing. its around half a day journey from bangalore, the approach road to the home stay is very good and it is far from all the honking traffic of mangalore road. An ideally place to be in for relaxing and to spend time with you friends, family n dear ones.

we were totally 13 of us so were provided with 3 rooms and extra beds. Rakshith(owner) and his family were very much approachable and there hospitality was really good. Food was purely of Malnad style , it was delicious and served till we filled our tummies :).

Some suggestions are: the blankets provided were few so it was bit difficult to withstand the cold and plan for some more guided tours and team activities. Change the camp fire place as everyone cant sit around it.

Apart from this it was really a good experience and we enjoyed a lot :)
All the best and try to maintain the same Quality with some more improvements.

We wanted to get away from the humdrum of city life into the peace and calm of unexplored territory. I wanted to surprise my wife by doing something different and unusual that people wouldn't normally do while celebrating their 2nd Wedding Anniversary!! Fortunately, she enjoyed the surprise.

We were the only guests as we had arrived mid-week and we were warmly welcomed into the family home for meals and pleasantries. The cottages itself were quite basic but sufficient. There is a small fireplace just outside the cottages where the guests can enjoy some warmth when it gets a little nippy in the evenings.

We were told that there are hired guides who generally take guests around the coffee plantations and other spots worth visiting in the vicinity. As we were the only guests, Rakshith took it upon himself to guide us to the various spots all by himself.

The food was one of the highlights of the trip and I had even asked my wife to convince Aunty to part with some of her recipes so we could try them once we were back home. I need to find out how successful she was.

Overall, Mr. Manjunath and family were very warm and friendly. The feedback wouldn't be complete without a mention of Byra, Julie (?), Bunty and Babli, the four adorable pets they have at the household.

If you are looking for a quiet, no-frills kind holiday or mild adventure and are willing to pay for the quality, then this is a good place to visit. Thanks to Rakshith and the rest of the family for the memories.

Another pointer to potential citybred guests - try the season just after the monsoons where everything would be lush green and fresh(minus the leaches which come out during the monsoon. The creepies really petrified and freaked my wife out!!!)

We visited the place from Jan 1st to Jan 4th 2010 and found it really good. Its a good spot to spend quality time together as a group. Five of us went and had a really nice time.

Thanks to Rakshith for all his arrangements

Cons :-
* The place is basic and small. Dont expect anything luxurious. But all were in place and sufficient. When we visited the place we were the only visitors and we really enjoyed being alone. Adjacent to our place there were two more rooms. I think when the stay is full it may look crowded.

* Found it lil difficult to reach the place. Makesure u know the full route before u start.
Apart from that I really could no think of any other Cons. Now the Pro's part

Pros :-
* The hospitality was really good. We felt like being in home. timely food, timely help, total privacy,

* Awesome food. Perfect 5/5 for food. Both V and non V were good.

* The place kept to justice to wat was really shown in the photo gallery. But they are subjected to seasons, so the
best thing is not to keep any expectations on the place like we did. So that you will really enjoy the place.

* Flexibility in activities. Thanks to Rakshith. he was very cooperative and provided right directions. Like we visited the river twice since we liked the place.

*The water falls was terrific. Just the right amt of flow. Not less or not more like shown in the gallery. but was really good. I think the falls is not known commercially. So we were the only ones playing there for two hrs.

* Right spot for trekking. Though we didn't reach the top, it will be good if u go there to get a very good view.

* The river stream visit was also good. There again you wont find anyone and can really spend some good time.

We were a team of 20 plus people. Very nice place. very nice people. very good food.

Mr and Mrs Manjunath took very good care of us. Everything was on time and they were very flexible on meeting requirements we had. they arranged very nice treks.

I believe it is a place visiting a second time.

Christmas 2010 saw my family of 20+ make its way to the home-stay, with much anticipation. From the instant we stepped into the place, we were taken care of like we were family, and we were really touched by the warmth shown towards us. Despite having to cook for such a large group, aunty had fabulous dishes coming out of the kitchen to fit all our appetites.

Right from showing us around the estate, taking us to the betta for a lovely trek, a visit to the waterfalls and explaining how coffee is processed, to keeping us warm with lovely bonfires, plates and plates of hot yummy vadas and chilli bajjis and cooperating with our requests for hot cups of coffee many times during the day, everything was just perfect and had such a warm touch. It was a lovely and memorable holiday and end to the year 2010!

Many many thanks to Manjunath sir and to aunty for their hospitality. Also thanks to Mani, who was our guide throughout. He was very helpful!

Definitely would recommend this for anyone who is looking for a small peaceful holiday, with small adventures sprinkled all the way through.

Just one snag in the otherwise beautiful picture was the availability of sheets at night. One thick blanket was provided per person, but in December when the chillness quotient is very high, we did feel a little cold, and having just another extra blanket per person would have made a world of a difference.

Nevertheless, we only took back great memories of our holiday at Navilubetta. Was a good one!

If you're looking for a weekend holiday, in a quiet, beautiful spot, then Navilubetta is for you. The place is comfortable, cozy and tucked away. Manjunath Sir and Aunty are the warmest of hosts and very adjustable to plan changes.
The food was simply outstanding, and Aunty was amazing for cooking a good spread for my family of over 20 very hungry people. Not to mention the dozens of cups of coffee and tea! Lovely treks in the hills were arranged for us. There are also walks that can be taken in and around the estate, besides a waterfall. My family had a really lovely time.
Oh, and a word about the blankets. It gets really cold at nights during the winters, and it would be nice if thicker or more blankets were provided.

Awesome Place.....we had been to this place in the beginning of July 2013, must say this one will be the most memorable, unforgettable home stay experience.

We as a team of 10 ppl visited this place. to begin the location itself is great....accommodations are great...hospitality good

Each and ever bit of experience here is unforgettable

THE BEST PART WAS THE FOOD...HMMMMM FINGER LICKING,MOST OF MY TEAM MEMBERS WANTS TO GO BACK AGAIN MAINLY FOR THE FOOD ONLY.....WISH EVERYDAY WE HAD THAT KIND OF FOOD.

The only change/development needed would be the place of camp fire, needs to be extended so that a group of 15-20 can be accommodated easily.

Thank you rakshit for your hospitality, hope to visit again soon :)
